St Georges Community Housing is celebrating this week after receiving excellent feedback from residents and community groups to its ongoing community clean-up project, undertaken with Pinnacle PSG. Two estates in particular have received significant praise: Laindon’s Lee Chapel North and Keats Way in Wickford, whose communal areas were given a complete deep-clean. Local resident Annie Carter from Wickford, commented: “During the deep clean the operatives were courteous and thorough and the end result was absolutely fabulous. The entrance halls and stairs look completely different, coloured tiles are now exposed due to the fantastic cleaning!”

FIRA’s Ergonomics Unit and the School of Engineering & Design of Brunel University are collaborating on a series of student projects, offering FIRA members the opportunity to benefit from a valuable free design and development service. FIRA is looking for short research and design projects which would constitute coursework assignments for about 60 design students. Brunel Design Department has some of the top design students in the UK and FIRA is linking with the teaching team to bring real-life design issues to these students.

A Housing Hartlepool development, where £1m has been invested on building bungalows, is transforming the lives of residents. The nine properties in Laureate Close, Hartlepool, have been officially opened by Anne Mulroy, from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), which contributed a grant of £477,000 to the scheme. Harry Moon, who has mobility problems, was the first person to move into Laureate Close. He previously lived in a house with a large garden. The 75-year-old retired shipyard riveter, said: “I love living here. It is roomy and warm and I have no problem getting around my new home with everything being on the same level.
